I’m at a wedding fayre on an October afternoon and I’m desperate for a caffeine fix, so I head outside and purchase a coffee from the most gorgeous horsebox bar. It really is beautiful, adorned with sunflowers and displaying a cute and colourful chalkboard explaining its many quirks and uses. I have a lovely chat with Ian about this new venture of his. I even help him tow the horsebox home at the end of the day (assuming by “help” you class “keeping an eye on the trailer” while someone else did the pushing and pulling…). We swap business cards, say our farewells and hope to keep in touch.
Seven days later, I run into him again. He’s at another wedding fayre with me, and his horsebox bar is back! This time he’s pouring glasses of prosecco for brides and grooms to be, situated in a lovely garden with a huge swing and canopied floral walkway. His bar looks perfectly at home in the surroundings and I’m more convinced than ever that every wedding needs a bespoke bar like this!
The horsebox is called Lunar, affectionately named by Ian’s children. When he first came across it it was a little worse for wear, and Ian made it his mission to restore the horsebox to its former glory. With a background in engineering and a passion for woodwork and carpentry, it was a dream project for Ian. Giving Lunar her new lease of life has been a real labour of love.
She can now be hired for your weddings and events, and makes an amazing addition to your party. She typically comes with ales, lagers or ciders on tap, as well as plenty of space for your bottles and beers! Available on a cash basis, as an open bar or for dry hire, you can use it as you wish and make the bar work for your and your needs. And it can be personalised, too!
As well as being able to dress the horsebox to match the colours or theme of your occasion, you can add some real special touches to really make it your own. The undercounter of the bar can be engraved with your own message or logo, and with Ian’s incredible skills he can produce a range of personalised pieces for your event to go with it. Serving platters, place mats, and lots of items which are perfect as wedding gifts or keepsakes, there's a range of brilliant ideas that can be added if you want something truly unique.
I'm so excited to see this new venture take off and hope I'll be seeing a lot more of Lunar at weddings and events in the coming years!
